Time To Be A Unicorn

A week or two ago when I was really struggling, one of my friends sent me this picture in an attempt to make me smile. It totally worked.  Partly because it's just kind of fun and silly - and partly because I know people who would say that and be completely serious...and then get all sad because they couldn't actually be a unicorn.

Because really being a person is entirely too complicated right now and I'm not really a fan. I kind of want to pretend I'm five years old, build a pillow fort and hide out with some crayons and a coloring book for a few days...or until I'm hungry at least. Because if there's one thing that's more therapeutic than coloring, it's got to be building pillow forts and hiding out and pretending nothing else outside of my imaginary fortress exists. I'm sure this is completely normal for someone my age. And if it's not, feel free to just leave me to my delusions.

Then, in response to the first picture, another friend sent this one.

Well played, my friend - well played.  Because as much as the first one is a warm and fuzzy (and kind of silly sentiment), most people who know me would probably say that this one better reflects my actual personality.  I should probably work on that... But really, I'm not like that.  I think sometimes the fact that I don't talk much combined with the massive amounts of snark that pour out when I do open my mouth make people think I'm some sort of queen bitch.  Seriously, I'm not - I promise.  I'm probably some happy medium between wanting to stab people with my head and wanting to be a unicorn so I can shit glitter and vomit rainbows and all of that sparkly, happy nonsense.  But there's some sparkly crap in there...somewhere.  I'm not all stabbing and other unicorn-related violence.

So yeah, I guess it's time to be a unicorn...  (this is totally not me, by the way, although I would totally wear a unicorn head and lounge in a park like that just to be weird...and probably arrested, I'd imagine - so here's Christmas gift idea #2...you know, in case you have a burning desire to buy a unicorn head - or just a desire to see me humiliate myself in public)
